| Sam Kuglen is a writer, director, teacher, stage manager and actor from Southern California. In addition to "Pinocchio", he has written acclaimed adaptations of 'A Wrinkle In Time" and "Amazing Grace" for the Serendipity Theatre Company in Los Angeles, and "Rapunzel and the Witch" for the California Theatre Center in Sunnyvale. His original play, "The Gruesome, Gory, Gory Stories of Edgar Allan Poe" was a 1995 winner in the American Alliance for Theatre and Education's Unpublished Play Contest. The play received its World Premiere at The Serendipity Theatre Company in Los Angeles and was subsequently published by Encore! Performance Publishing. His original play, "The Royal Baby", based on the lazzi of Commedia dell Arte, was mounted by Stages Theatre in Hollywood. He has directed professional productions of "Androcles and the Lion", "The Ransom of Red Chief", "Holiday Stories" and his own version of "Pinocchio" for STC, as well as many other plays at other theatres in the Los Angeles area. On stage, he has played a wide variety of roles as an actor with an emphasis on Theatre for Young Audiences. On television, he has been seen on America's Funniest People, Days of Our Live, General Hospital, and Homefront, among others. He has participated in the prestigious Wordsmiths Playwrighting Workshop at the Los Angeles Theatre Center and is a member of the Dramatists Guild, SAG, AFTRA and Actor's Equity. Sam holds a Master's Degree in Education from Pepperdine University and teaches high school in the LA area. |
