Please read the criteria and deadline for each scholarship that interests you carefully. Leave your scholarship list with your choices checked off in the scholarship file on my desk. You may pick up your applications later that day. If you have any questions or need further assistance please see Jeani Chambers, College/Career Center. American Fire Sprinkler

Association Scholarship

Enter this contest for the opportunity to win one of ten $2,000.00 scholarships. You must read the “Fire Sprinkler Essay” about automatic fire sprinklers and take a ten-question multiple-choice test. For each question answered correctly, students will receive one entry into a drawing for one of the ten scholarships prizes. See the flyer for all information.

Bill Coggins Community Leadership Award

 For current high school seniors who plan to enroll in a community college/four year college, university or vocational school. You must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, and demonstrate a commitment to community service leadership. You must document voluntary community service that is not required by school or court programs. The volunteer hours must have been in LA County.

Body by Milk “Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award”

A $7,500 college scholarship will be awarded to a scholar athlete based on academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership, community service, and what part milk plays in their life.

Burbank Assoc. of Realtors Scholarship

This scholarship is available to all graduating seniors with the following qualifications: good citizenship record, leadership qualities, above average grades, college goals, personal recommendations and financial need.

Burbank Memorial Achievement Council (BMAC)

This is for senior scholar athletes. You must have lettered in a high school sport, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, pursuing higher education after high school.

For a senior planning a career as a teacher. This is a $1000.00 scholarship.

Burbank University Women Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to outstanding young women in Burbank high schools who anticipate enrolling in four year colleges or universities in the fall. You will be judged on scholarship, activities and contributions to the school and community.

California Credit Union

For high school seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA, attending an accredited college or university in the fall.

California School Employees Association (CSEA)

Does your parent work for a school district in California? The CSEA Scholarship provides financial assistance to dependent children of CSEA members for college or vocational school. You must have a parent who is a CSEA member, and a minimum 3.0 GPA from grades 10-12.

Civil Service Employees Insurance Company’s Youth Automobile Safety Scholarship

An essay competition for seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA, and who are children of full-time or retired public employees. Your essay will discuss ways the teenage automobile accident rate can be reduced.

Cuban American Teachers’ Association

This scholarship is offered to students of Cuban American descent who are planning to continue their education at the college level. You should have at least a “B” average, be active in school and community affairs, speak acceptable Spanish and demonstrate an interest in their cultural heritage.

Educational Communication Scholarship Foundation

All high school students who are legal residents of the U.S. and have taken the SAT or ACT examination may compete. If aptitude tests have not yet been taken please hold your application until this information is available.

Gordon R. Howard Family Scholarship

This scholarship is available to JBHS and BHS students to be used for tuition, books, etc.  Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, or have demonstrated significant academic improvement during their four years of high school. Academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community service, work experience, & financial need will be considered.

Italian Catholic Federation

For students who are Catholic and of Italian descent, who maintain at least a 3.2 GPA. This will be based on class rank, financial need, leadership role, & extracurricular activities.

Eula Mae Jett Scholarship

Legal Secretaries, Inc. offers scholarships to persons desiring a career in the legal field. They will be giving three $1000.00 scholarships to a graduating high school senior that has successfully completed secretarial/business courses in high school and will be enrolled in a college or business school offering a course of study in the legal field.

Patrick Kerr Skateboard Scholarship

You must be a senior who skateboards (it does not matter how good you are!), have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and enrolled in a two- or four-year university in the fall of 2008.

The LAJCC Foundation is offering $2000.00 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who reflect the mission of the LAJCC and its scholarship program. The program places emphasis on a well-rounded student with community service and other extra-curricular activities, academic performance. See the application for full details.

Applicant must be a former McKinley Elementary school student, graduating in June of 2008. You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, or demonstrate a significant increase in academic performance.

All California 6th-12th grade students are eligible for this contest. You can either write, do a poster, or a TV ad (or all three if you want), on “Why should California leaders save me and my peers a spot in college?” See the flyer for rules and eligibility.

Southern California Cable & Telecommunications Association Lee Brennan Memorial Scholarship Fund

The SCCTA and your local cable company are offering several scholarships varying in amounts from $500 to $2500 to graduating high school seniors in Southern California, that are accepted by an accredited four-year university. The successful applicants will have demonstrated their desire to continue their education leading to a career with the Cable and Telecommunications industry. For students that are dedicating their futures to healthcare. This year up to $350,000 in scholarships will be awarded to our future doctors, nurses and other health professionals. Applicants will be judged on leadership qualities and academics.
