We welcome you to our web site. John Burroughs High School has a commitment to academic excellence. We follow the Three R's: Rigor, Relevance and Relationships. John Burroughs has earned 809 on the Academic Performance Index. Our belief simply put is that all students are capable of learning. Our school embodies the concept of the Burroughs family. Hence, we strive to be a nurturing community that seeks to meet the needs of our students as we prepare them for success in high school and beyond. In looking at our academic performance there are several key indicators that demonstrate our high academic performance. Let`s examine these points of success:

· 92% of students passing the math portion of the CAHSEE on the first attempt
· 91% of students passing the English portion of the CAHSEE on first attempt
· 96.1% Average Daily Attendance

Burroughs High is a comprehensive high school, which offers programs for all students. There is an extensive performing arts program, which includes band, choir, dance and drama. In the area of practical arts we have art, photo, video production and culinary arts. There is a renowned athletic program offering a wide range of opportunities for students to excel.

Mission Statement:
The mission of John Burroughs High School is to provide a learning environment where students grow and succeed academically, socially and vocationally. We will maintain a partnership among the faculty, administration, staff, students and parents that is supportive and responsive to their needs and the needs of the school. We will provide positive role models for students. Students are expected to excel and to achieve, as well as to be responsible, honest, and respectful of others.
