"We are responsible for our own learning"

**Homework is not optional. It is a part of the learning process; it provides practice and reinforcement of concepts taught in class.
**Additional reports that require research and involve more time will be assigned in writing at least one month in advance.
**Daily assignments will vary due to allowing more study time for tests, writing assignments, or research.
**Students who finish their homework easily and quickly can use educational websites listed on the West Covina School District's homepage or on this site, do additional research of subjects they are interested in, do science projects, or read.
**The students have assignment books to keep track of their work.
**Homework is given Monday through Thursday nights.
**Reading is required daily.  Encourage reading of lengthier, more difficult books, so your child can gain new ideas, learn new vocabulary, and practice using the reading skills he has learned.
*Science and Social S. assignments require taking notes, learning definitions and regularly reviewing the material covered in class.

**Writing assignments will require using a five paragraph essay: Introduction, three paragraphs, and a conclusion. All writing begins with a plan.
**Spelling and vocabulary words are given on Mondays.  A test will be given on Thursdays.

One of my favorite math sites is "King's Math Page." Another is www.AAAKNOW.com and 50states.com.

Two great reference books which will be useful for future grades too are: "Cliffs Quick Review"  Writings: Grammar, Usage, and Style and Basic Math and Pre-Algebra, each $9.99 at Barnes and Nobles. I recently saw these books at Target.

If your child is absent more than one day, PLEASE call the school and make arrangemennog fdzl0 znc d dngx din z hxgofi zl xdgginb.ts for work to be sent home. PLEASE send an excuse with your child when he/she returns to class.
